disrupted politics in america nap is donald truch flp is no a not -- trump is. he won by more than 10%. he did an amazing job. when they attack a look at what he brought to the table, he doesn't go out and shake hands. he has a little phone banking, but he does it very different. he gets in front of a large crowd, he gives a speech, and he urges them to go vote. yesterday he collected phone numbers, he was texting voters saying please go out and vote. as we look at the numbers here, donald trump wins in south carolina. remember he did well, number two in iowa, he won in new hampshire. this was only did trump last night. >> i just want to congratulate the other candidates, it's not easy running for president, i can tell you.

it's tough, nasty, mean, and vicious. it's beautiful. when you win, it's beautiful. we're going to start winning for our country. >> it was are a dead heat for second place, marco rubio and ted cruz battling out for second position. the separation here is so very small, it doesn't appear that either of these men is going to say they didn't win. they didn't win overall, but they say claiming the second spot is indeed what it is about for them right now. this was ted cruz last night. >> you look at marco rubio. he was a popular member of congress, the entire south carolina establishment circled around him. even with $50 million in advertising has yet to finish

better than third in any of the primary states. >> now we're hearing about advertising. just to give you a snapshot of how expensive these races are, jeb bush spent $13 million here in south carolina for 12,480 ads. a tremendous amount of money that was apparently not enough to move his campaign through to the next level. the former governor of florida, jeb bush of the bush dynasty, deciding that he goes no further from here. this was jeb bush last night. >> i am proud of the campaign that we have run to unify our country and to advocate conserve testify solutions that would give more americans the opportunity to rise up and reach their potential. the people of iowa, new hampshire, south carolina have

spoken and i am suspending my campaign. >> so the question now, for those that supported jeb bush, is who will they support? will they coalesce around donald trump if he gets the republican nomination. in the room last night, i met several voters that said they would find that very difficult. it is not uncommon after a bruising primary for republican voters to feel hurt. this race seems different. i hear people saying they cannot support donald trump. >> thank you very much, kerry sanders for that look at everything. thank you for that. i'm joins by elise jordan, casy, and kaitlyn hewy-burns.

thank you for joining me at this early hour. i want to get your take away, the major one, if you have one point from south carolina from each of you. elise, you go first. >> that ted cruz had a very, very bad night. i don't see where the road forward gets better for him. his whole strategy is based on a state like south carolina where he would have strong support and he could not carry it. >> katie, your top take away? >> senator cruz has a much more difficult road ahead. he called a firewall and south carolina was the first to kick that off and he did not perform as well as he opened here. that could make the strategy going into the south more difficult. >> i would point to marco rubio who came in second by a hair and is claiming that as a victory,

but i think his path forward is also very difficult. she going to be propelled into the tour states, and i think the path for rubio will be difficult not having won a state yet. i think the question remains where can he win and win big? >> kaitlyn, one of the most interesting things out of the exit poll are the points at which that donald trump supporters continue to win more. 24% say in the last few days or so. 31% say in the last month. 56% said we decided before that. doesn't it bolster the argument that he could do no wrong and still win? >> right, this week was a remarkable week in politics given the variety of things that donald trump said from bashing the bush family in the beginning of the week to the hope later

on. it seems like his campaign has been made of teflon, and i think he will continue on to these other states with that in mind. i think it is now that the ration has narrowed, theoretically, to three candidates, but john kasich is pledging to stay in through the midwest. ben carson of course still in the race. i am interested to see if they will pile on trump or if they will take on each other. >> there is a debate and there is also neff. the next test for the republicans. donald trump is leading by 26 points. is there a clear path for donald trump, or do you see momentum stopping at a certain point? >> i see him doing great in the s.e.c. states.

he put in a lot of time in those different states having huge rallies in alabama, mississippi, and georgia today i think he will do well there. the only hope for the rubio campaign is that come march 15th he could do well in the winner take all states. you have illinois, ohio, florida all in one day. if he could take three out of the five, he could sweep up 230 delegates and be tied around where trump would be. that's a very optimistic katie is this a three-person race now? our does kasich have an outside chance still? >> it makes it much more difficult, his showing last night. he did well in new hampshire. he did not do well last night. he is looking forward to the

northeastern and midwestern states. just seeing the battle between rubio and cruz makes it look like a three-person race. >> yeah, and where did jeb bush's voters go now? >> i think they probably go to rubio which seems odd, but i think that ted cruz is just not paletteb paletteble. and kasich bunt have enough momentum for people though throw support behind him. i think it looks like rubio. >> okay, ladies, stay where you are. hillary clinton takes the gold, but is there a silver lining for bernie sanders? i really think just like the

d down barriers. second a very aggressive outreach to african-american voters. she took a trip to flint michigan. she was in chicago earlier this week. she got a huge endorsement. on friday just before caucus goers went to have their say here in nevada, all of that together supported the african-american voters. s then i will mention one more point, i have been talking to her campaign officials, there is a lot of credit for her campaign manager who happened her win in evidence in 2008, but she lost the delegate count back then. this time around they focused more heavily on the delegate

it is clearer and clearer now that hillary clinton is well positioned in skaerouth carolin. vermont will be voting and he has a lead there. once when get away from iowa, new hampshire, and into states with a more diverse elector rate, more favorable to democrats, that she would do well. i think bernie sanders can obviously stay in this race. he has a lot of money and he has closed the gap a little bit. so i think he can take that away. zlaen to your point, we should say more about the 86-10, but it is his state. how big is the set back for bernie sanders with a loss in south carolina. >> it is a big set back. clinton looks good going into south carolina. she has been here quite a bit.

you know as kaitlyn said, senator sanders is looking stronger in states down the like. vermont and massachusetts. this is definitely a set back for him coming into south carolina. >> and do you think sanders can win by continuing the same line of attack like wall street and her vote on iraq. >> i don't know if he can expand his dais. he did do seemingly better with the latino vote, but he has to get more than just white voters. >> who do republicans want to face in november? >> i think bernie sanders would be the most attractive option for republicans to go up against e against, but hillary clinton is a weak, flawed candidate and
